Abdur Razzak's death anniversary today
Today is the 11th death anniversary of national leader late Abdur Razzak, one of the organizers of the liberation war, veteran politician, former member of Awami League's advisory council.
- He breathed his last on December 23, 2011 while undergoing treatment at King's College Hospital in London. A program has been taken up by Awami League and its affiliated organizations on his death anniversary.
- These include prayer and recitation of the Qur'an, discussions highlighting life philosophy, memorial meetings, etc.
Besides, Abdur Razzak Memorial Sangsad and Abdur Razzak Foundation organized Milad Mahfil at Banani Cemetery. Abdur Razzak's son Shariatpur-3 Member of Parliament Nahim Razzak will attend the event.
- On the occasion of Abdur Razzak's death anniversary, a wreath will be placed at the Banani cemetery at 8 am today under the initiative of Abdur Razzak Foundation, Shariatpur Foundation, Abdur Razzak Memorial Sangsad.
- Besides, various organizations including Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League have announced extensive programs in Shariatpur.
- After the Awami League came to power under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina in 1996, Abdur Razzak served as the Minister of Water Resources in that government. In 1997, the historic Ganga water sharing agreement between Bangladesh and India was signed during his tenure as minister.
