5 symptoms are revealed when vitamin B is low

Vitamin B is an essential nutrient that helps us in energy production, red blood cell formation and DNA synthesis. Vitamin B deficiency can cause pellagra, anemia and beriberi. A deficiency in any of these eight B vitamins – thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, biotin, folate and cyanocobalamin – can lead to several symptoms. Know what the symptoms are.

  1. Vitamin B plays an important role in energy production. Deficiency can lead to persistent fatigue and weakness. Inadequate B vitamin levels can cause anemia. This can result in decreased oxygen transport to the cells, which can lead to overall fatigue and weakness.
  2. One of the most important functions of vitamin B is to support the nervous system. Its deficiency can result in nerve damage. It can cause symptoms such as numbness, tingling or pain in the hands, feet or other parts of the body.
  3. Vitamin B has effects on neurotransmitters and brain function. As a result, this vitamin is essential for mental health. Deficiency of the vitamin can cause symptoms such as depression, irritability or confusion.
  4. Mouth sores, sore tongue or glossitis (swollen tongue) can be symptoms of vitamin B deficiency.
  5. In some cases, vitamin B deficiency can cause vision problems. Optic neuropathy is a condition in which the optic nerve is damaged. This can cause blurred or distorted vision, difficulty recognizing colors, and in severe cases, vision loss.
