What is Eid Mubarak

Eid mubarak is an Islamic religious festival that's celebrated by Muslims all around the world. Eid mubarak is a special occasion for muslims to get united, express happiness, strengthen faith, offer salah, seek forgiveness from Allah, be generous and show kindness to others. There are two most important festivals for all the muslims. They are (1) Eid-al-Fitr and (2) Eid-al-Adha.

(1) Eid-al-Fitr, composed of two Arabic words, Eid (day of happiness) and Fitrah (A certain amount of money given to the poor) is one of the two most important festivals of Islam that marks the end of the 9th holy Islamic month of Ramadhan.

On the occasion of Eid-al-Fitr, muslims gather at Eidgah, offer Eid-al-Fitr salah and collectively make dua to Allah.

2. Eid-al-Adha, also composed of two Arabic words, Eid (Day of happiness) and Adha (sacrifice ) is celebrated by muslims at the last day of pilgrimage in the 12th and last month of Islamic calendar, Dhul Hijjah. This eid-al-adha falls in the 12th holy month of Islam, Dhul Hijjah exactly after two months and 10 days of Eid-al-Fitr.

Muslims observe eid-al-adha in order to commemorate the event and willingness of prophet Ibrahim (AS) whom Allah ordered to sacrifice his son, prophet Ismail (AS), but Allah sent a ram to prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice instead of his son, prophet Ismail (AS).

On the occasion of eid-al-adha, muslims sacrifice animals and divide the meat among the family members, relatives and the poor.
