What is a blog

A blog is a website on which topical articles are published. The most accessible platform for a blog is WordPress, which can be integrated as a standalone installation on a domain or assigned to an existing, corporate website.

Another popular tool for blogging is, of course Medium.com J The benefit of this platform is that more readers will naturally access the content and the work of actually distributing the publication is eliminated.

How to write a blog

It is important to know who you are writing the blog for.

What does that mean? We need to know our target audience. If we are preparing a corporate blog, the target group should correspond to the business we are conducting. We should also keep in mind the situation in which the reader accesses the blog, from where he/she accesses it and at what time he/she is active.

If we know that a substantial sample of readers view content while having their morning coffee, our articles should be shorter and with relevant content. Or are we writing blogs for the purpose of entertainment? In that case, we can afford more extensive and philosophical content.

Let’s know the goals of writing a blog

Are we starting a blog for the sake of increasing brand awareness, do we want to establish a closer relationship with the reader, or increase sales of a new product? Each of the defined approaches calls for a particular blog management approach.

Example

When creating a blog for the purpose of building relationships, opinion articles, even the more controversial ones, or behind-the-scenes information about one’s own business, are an excellent way to get closer to the audience. For sales promotion growth, reviews and tutorials with a thorough link to product goals are the ideal form.

Five post formats for how to write a blog

This type of blog content is highly valuable in situations where the article provides significant informational value and comprehensive, practical guidance on how to handle a particular situation or task.

The post is meant to be reliable. We need it to present up-to-date and verified information that regularly publishes content, step-by-step.

A type of post that explains a topic, phenomenon, or specific thing. Think about who the article is intended for and adjust the level of formality, complexity and detail of the writing according to the group of readers.

We use a different sentence structure for creating content whose readership is a narrow group of professionals and we take a different approach when speaking to the general public.

Numerical lists are popular with readers because of their clear structure. They are easy to navigate. They often serve as inspirational reading, from where the recipient of the information can easily bounce further.

Articles created on the topic of current events can be embellished in an original way. Here we cannot afford to present outdated or irrelevant information. A good way to support the presentation of news is to use the tool of infographics. We can clearly present data, graphs, ratios or a timeline in an illustrative way. Such an article often becomes viral content and has high visitor values who share it using social networks.

A format that never gets old. An interview is an amazing way to present ideas in an engaging way, structure content clearly, and motivate the reader to think more deeply about a particular topic.

The interview is often seized upon by marketers as an excellent opportunity to spark debate and reader response.
