Library at University

Lesson 18

My University Library (learn more vocabulary)

Aligarh Muslim University is my university. It is located at Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India. It's one of the top central universities in India. It has a central library named Maulana Azad Library. It's the heart and soul of the university. It's been working as a vaccine for ignorance and shedding light on dark spaces since it was founded.

The library is the Asia's no 1 and second biggest library in the whole of Asia. It has about 1,800,000 books in it. It is surrounded by beautiful lawns and breathtaking gardens. It remains open for 18 hours. It possesses 6 sizeable reading halls, apart from having 8 small-scale reading rooms. It has a seating capacity of two thousand students or readers at a time. Eight thousand students, teachers and readers pay a visit to it on a daily basis for academic purpose.

There's always a pin-drop silence in the library which is required for an undisturbed learning and intense focus on studies.

The library quenches the thirst of thousands of its users or readers for knowledge by providing them with first-raterarest and oldest materials and facilitativeauthentic and great books.

Our university library is used by students, teachers and research scholars to acquire knowledge for free. The library acts as a saver of money for those who cannot afford to buy expensive books. So it's not far from reality that the library is a money-saving storehouse of knowledge and information.

The most interesting thing about the library is that the location and atmosphere of it are perfect as it stands in the centre of the university.

One of the most intriguing facts about Maulana Azad Library is that it has the Latin translation of the Book of Optics (Kitab-Al-Manazir) written by the greatest physicist of the mediaeval Arab, Ibn-Al-Haytham, which got translated into Latin in the late twelfth century.

Maulana Azad Library is indeed the greatest library that promotes learning and provides countless high quality scholarly sources to its users or readers. It has been fulfilling its vision to cater to the academic needs of the university fraternity, and accomplishing its mission to furnish high-quality materials to enrich teaching and learning.
